AW: how strong is your country internationally? I think the next ten years will be the decade of the german tabletennisplayer as the number one in europe and the number two in the world. And Patrick Baum should be a part of that ! |

Nope. ![]() Talking about Table Tennis in Europe in general - compared with those golden days in the eighties and nineties - you are right. But Germany is an laudable exception in this continental ocean of grief, sorrow and tears. To cash up the title some day in the Men's Single Competition at Olympia or the World Championships - like Waldner, Gatien and Persson before - is nethertheless for Boll or Ovtcharov nearly impossible. So will these European Top-Players really go down in "celluloid history" * ? - I don't believe so... ![]() * Remember 'The Smiths' ? -> http://www.lyricsdepot.com/the-smith...r-shankly.html -> www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-O665wmJhQ ´ |

AW: how strong is your country internationally? I actually think he has some potential. And he has the guts. Admittedly, he is still too inconsistent, yet. |

AW: how strong is your country internationally? Sorry, Dave. Excuse my misunderstanding please. Referring to tabletennis, there will be bad prophecies concerning our country. The young generation is too lazy, and the recruiting and developement of hopeful youth players is not such efficient as it could be. Our only hope are immigrants; the latest examples are Dimitrij Ovtcharov and Zhenqi Barthel. Sad but true. |

AW: how strong is your country internationally? i was only referring to table tennis not sport in general. there were no german players in the male youth category at the european youth top 10, which was quite surprising. the female german players were on top though and won deservably. |
