What makes you keep on playng table tennis ?
 

Hi All,

it is a simple question, but not so often placed....

Why are you actually playing table tennis ?
What is your motivation ?
Is it the fun to play, the good fellowship in the club or with other players, the sound when speed glueing ............ ?

I am interested in your messages :)

For me it was the first sport I really liked and I did a lot of other sports before. The fellowship and friendship with other players even after table tennis. The fact that with table tennis players you could also talk much more about other things being of interest. That was the main reason for me.

And your reasons ?

I like tabletennis because on the one hand it's an individual sport but on the other hand it's also a team sport for me. You can talk while you're playing and you get to know lots of people, for example on turnaments. The atmosphere is unique and the fellowship and friendship is great!

For me tabletennis is the most fascinating sport! Once I read the following sentences (I can't remeber where) and in my opinion it suits very much:

Tabletennis is magic.
Why magic? Only members can understand the reason why a player pulls the ball of the defender into the net. Only the magicians themselves can understand the reason why the ball does not bounce straight forward at the setback but two metres beside the table.
Tabletennis is a duel. A duel of two magicians... Human beings ever have been impressed by combats and look for them to measure themselves with other people. By playing tabletennis just with their power of doing magic.
(Sorry, I couldn't translate it better, but I hope you'll understand it!)

this is something about table-tennis, i also like very much..

i don't think this is typical for table-tennis because there might be other sorts of sports (:)) which can also be described in this way. it's just feeling for the ball - its speed and spin. i like table-tennis and keep on playing it because i started once playing with some friends, had a lot of fun and got to know many people with this sport. that's why table-tennis is simply great to me :)

Not an easy question indeed: Why do I like playing table tennis?
Hard to say: when I started playing no of my friends used to play table tennis. They don´t use to do even today.
I also was never, am not an will never be a really good player, so it also can´t be the great feeling of winning a tournament or becoming champion.

I Think I play table tennis, because it is a combination of athletic and mental sports. Nobody ever won a tabletennismatch because he was strong and nobody ever won a tebletennismatch because he was clever. A tabletennisplayer needs both skills.
This -for me- seperates table tennis from most of the other sports ( golf is to expensive for me).

Well, I was not that successfull the last two years. The reason is very simple: Though I train much I´m not able to give "everything" in a championchip game. I just love the game itself, and not the challenge or the tournament. I like to play "nice" balls and try some different "tactics" during a match, that´s what makes table-tennis so interesting for me.
You´ve got so many opportunitys to create your own "style" and of course, it´s a very fast game :D I like the mix of speed&controll.

the only thing which irritates me, is the behaviour of some members of our table-tennis club...but that´s another point...;)
