I've heard from Ma Wenge. I don't know, if he is a defender, but he is famous in germany.

But maybe the name of the famous defender is Ding Song!?

Hou Yingchao is a Defender playing with short pips.

For me, the most interesting defender is Joo Se Hyuk, because of his modern active defense play, with a great backhand chop and an ENORMOUS forehand topspin :kinnlade: . There are some other active defenders, like Chen Weixing, Ding Song, Panagiotis Gionis, or the young Chinese Hou Yingchao, and I think that it's through this style that table tennis will interest more and more spectators, especially in Europe. :top:

In France we have Lo Chueng Tsung from Hong Kong, who was 3rd in the World Championships in 1985. He has a very uncommon mid-distance defense style with an OX long pips rubber on backhand, he makes backhand chopped balls that literally plunge on the table from the top of their trajectory :kinnlade: . He also loops with his forehand.

Hi there,
to mention another european defender, I would name Evgeny Chtchetinine, however you pronounce it ;).
His play is very defensive, attacks or counter attacks are rare, but many players say that his chop is one of the hardest, because of much backspin and sidespin.

If we are speaking about european defenders, we have to mention Viktoria Pavlovitch!

All the good defenders in Europe come from eastern Europe, like Chetetinine (i dont know how to spell it), Palina, Pavlovitch and so on! Isn´t it like this?
