Der neue 40mm Ball

habt ihr schon mit ihm gespielt und wie ist eure meinung dazu????

das spiel ändert sich total, es ist dann eine andere sportart. nur wer den ball schon selber gespielt hat glaubt das, aber ist wirklich so...
es wird ein nachteil für techniker sein, der ball bekommt weniger tempo und rotation, schwer zu sagen wer vorteile hat, jedenfalls längere ballwechsel...

für die zuschauer aber besser, weil sie den ball besser sehen und die ballwechsel länger werden.

Ich habe diesen Ball zwar noch nie gespielt, habe aber einen interessanten Bericht zu diesem Thema gefunden (leider auf englisch).

A few days ago, on 20th November, 1999, I took part in an invitation tournament in City of Barcelona. It was the eighth opportunity for me to participate in this competition. But the occasion of this time was a very special one: eight players had to testify a bigger ball. So far I was not involved in discussion on this subject, but this invitation gave me an excellent chance to deepen my knowledge.

My opinions are as under:

1. It will be easier to return a serve; less spin, clearlier visibility of a stamp on the ball.

2. Speed of ball is reduced in any kind of it. The consequences: It seems to make an advantage for the players who are technically better ( the end of Kamikaze-players era?!); more short-short games, less smashes; easier to block a topspin.

3. Surprise: such a ball does not help players who like to play in defence! This may be because of that the balls are made from the material which is simply not perfect. N.Tsiokas, Greek national player and typical chopper said that he could not find the way to chop the balls aggresively and with control.

For all other players, including myself, to play in a far distance from the table meant nearly losing a point. It seems to me that not only the quality of the ball must be improved but also the rubbers are supposed to be changed and adjusted to new situations as well.

4. More important function will be coming up, so called physical preparation. Any topspin will cost players a bit more power. Do you still remember the generation of Istvan Jonyer or Dragutin Surbek? It looks like that strong body players will be welcome again.

And now my point of view regarding current situation: In last years it has been tried to change or have changed the color of balls and tables, scoring system, higher nets,and now a bigger ball-everything under the title: To improve spectacularity of table tennis. I am sure this is a wrong direction by some of officials who want us to go.

As a former player and todays coach let me that there is another cancer that kills table tennis systematically. His name is SERVE. Nobody respects his strange rule. The referees never see uncorrectness in service performance. This is ill and the first of all. ITTF officials and representatives of next BGM in Kuala Lumpur are requested to change the service rule.

Table tennis has gone over 100 years tradition, which says everything about color and overall of table tennis. The 2mm bigger ball will also be able to be served" from behind the body". Spectacularity will not be achieved, so long as serve can not be seen clearly by opponent.

I am against the bigger ball!!!

die geschwindigkeit ist es aber, die tt auch für die zuschauer so spektakulär macht.
längere ballwechsel werden der sportart nichts bringen, deshalb wird kein zuschauer mehr kommen...außerdem so schlimm seh ich das mit den kurzen ballwechseln nicht: wenn zwei topspieler gegeneinander spielen, gibts auch oft viele längere spektakuläre ballwechsel, so z.b. beim WM-Endspiel Liu Guoliang gegen Ma Lin, ich war live dabei und es gab nur riesenballwechsel fünf sätze lang, und das ist beim spiel zweier chinesen gegeneinander schon bemerkenswert!
der größere ball würde den reiz der sportart nehmen..

ich muß dir voll und ganz zustimmen, der neue Ball würde dem Sport die Dynamik nehmen.

Was wäre Tischtennis ohne Speed und Spin.

na ja ich will mir da noch kein urteil erlauben. ich muss erstmal mit dem neuen ball spielen. weiß einer von euch wo man die herbekommt?

Ja, der DTS hat mal welche verlost, hab aber keine ergattern können. Du kriegst sie sicher schon kann ich mir vorstellen. Einfach mal anfragen!
