this will definetely turn out to be wrong !
Perhaps the changes made by the ITTF (=> larger ball, no speed glueing or boostering) aimed at a deaccelaration of the game to increase the fraction of long rallies. However, look at the results:
The speed is still the same !
This was made possible by the development of faster rubbers & sponges as well as of faster blades.
But let's have a closer look on the only physical parameter that indeed changed: the spin of the ball ! First the high spin of table tennis is the very unique characteristic of our sport. What a pitty that you are going to diminish this fascinating feature. Second, spin is the absolute necessity for all defenders. Take the spin a away and you will sacrifice the defenders !
Summary: defenders are more hampered then before and a comeback is farther away then ever.
