BOLL leading the European cream into the intercontinental battle
Boll_Schlager14/05/2009 - First edition of the series of new event named Europe-Asia All Stars will take place this year in Beijing on 25th-26th August and in Istanbul on 10th-11th November.
The best players that both Continents can line-up, will compete at two steps event in Europe in Asia.
The European Table Tennis Union communicated the list of players, selected according to the latest ITTF rankings after the WTTC in Yokohama, to form the European team:
1. Timo BOLL (GER)
2. Vladimir SAMSONOV (BLR)
3. Kalinikos KREANGA (GRE)
4. Michael MAZE (DEN)
5. Werner SCHLAGER (AUT)
6. Gencay MENGE (TUR, wild card, just for European stage)
CTTV and Eurosport will broadcast the event representing the milestone in the new cooperation between Europe and Asia even concerning the Olympic Project just started by the ETTU.

Istanbul clearing the ground for Euro-Asia inauguration day
23/05/2009 – “Istanbul looks forward Euro-Asia All Stars series premiere with lot of expectations. I was really excited to breathe deep such an overall atmosphere. Once more I had confirmation how to choose Turkish capitol as European stage first edition’s location was a happy decision”: ETTU President Stefano BOSI showed his deep satisfaction after the short visit in Istanbul to meet the local authorities, together with Turkish TT Association President Cimen OKTAI and further officials,
In particular, ETTU President met Ali BAKOGLU, Vice-Governor of Istanbul who is responsible for sport, culture and security issues. Purpose of the meeting were all initiatives to focus on, including the special inauguration Turkish authorities wish to organize, around late July, in close cooperation with the ETTU.
More details and official date will be announced within few days. “We’re conceiving about something really glamorous and haunting to re-mark the event’s meaning, since the opening will be the real start-up toward a strong and long-term cooperation between Europe and Asia”.
Indeed, the Euro-Asia inauguration day in Istanbul will be a sneak preview of both upcoming 2009 events: the Asian stage taking place in Beijing on August 25-26 and finally European stage in Istanbul, November 10-11.
