Auslosung WM
Soeben erschienen auf der offiziellen Site des Weltverbandes die
Ergebnisse der Auslosung:
Paris, France, 16 May 2003. BOLL (GER) against WANG Liqin (CHN) and Vladimir SAMSONOV (BLR) against MA Lin (CHN), this is the “set up” for the semi-finals in the Men’s Singles at the Liebherr World Championships starting on Monday 19th.
Top seed Timo BOLL (GER)
However a lot of other players would like to “disturb” the seedings of the first 4 mentioned – and some of them are also capable of doing so.
Before reaching the semi-finals BOLL will have to beat players like Jean-Philippe GATIEN (FRA), OH Sang Eun (KOR) or KONG Linghui (CHN).
Vladimir SAMSONOV (BLR) will probably not like the draw. In 2002 SAMSONOV lost 3 times to WANG Hao (CHN) – and WANG Hao is probably waiting for SAMSONOV in the quarters.
Chinese top man MA Lin is set to meet CHUAN Chih-Yuan (TPE) in the quarter finals.
In the Women’s Singles top seed ZHANG Yining (CHN) is set to meet compatriot NIU Jianfeng in the semi-finals. “The plan” for the other semi-final is WANG Nan (CHN) against European hope Tamara BOROS (CRO).
However, BOROS is looking at a long Chinese wall going into the championships. GUO Yan, LI Nan, WANG Nan and ZHANG Yining, she might have to beat all of them, one after the other, to gain the title.
The best 64 seeded players will have to wait a few days before they can get into action. On Monday and Tuesday the qualification will played to find the 64 players (in both Men’s and Women’s Singles) who will advance to the main draw to meet the 64 seeded players.
