To modify and unify 2.9.1:
2.9.1 The rally shall be a let
2.9.1.1 if in service the ball, in passing over or around the net assembly,
touches it, provided that
2.9.1.1.1 the service is otherwise correct or
2.9.1.1.2 the receiver or his partner obstructs the ball, touches the playing
surface with a free hand or infringes Law 2.10.1.13 or
2.9.1.1.3 the receiver or his partner, or anything they wear or carry, moves
the playing surface or touches the net assembly.
Rationale:It shall be made clear that
- once the ball has touched the net no action by the receiver can bring him/her an unfair
advantage;
- a server who has not made a correct service should not have the chance to score a point.
