Just as a hypothetical, take Trump completely out of the picture for moment. Instead, take any other of the dozens of candidates who aspired to head up the GOP. Jeb Bush, Rubio, Cruz, Paul, Christie...none of whom would have stood a chance against Hillary.
So, inevitably, it had to come down to somebody coming along and stir things up big time. At face value, outrageous statements and conduct by a rogue, egotistical and rather unsophisticated commoner. Well, commoner might be a bit of a stretch, but you know what I mean - he is by no means of the mold of any other candidate ever run for office.
Trump, to me, is the poster-child of a self-fulfilling prophecy - perhaps not in a literal, but figurative philosophical framework.
What fascinates me most - along with the undeniable disillusionment - is the fact that in hindsight, the polls preceding the election day portrayed a different picture. This was certainly heightened by the developments of the past two weeks, where everybody wondered how Comey's statements relative to Hillary's involvement revolving A. Weiner's 'sexting-scandal' emails will hold up to the ominous resurfaced Access Holywood tapes. I'm sure you learned about all that, but for those of you who didn't: back in I believe 2005, Trump was on his way to a PR event. The pretty popular early evening show 'Access Hollywood' (alles um die Stars und Sternchen in Hollywood) covered the spectacle. As Donald rode with host Billy Bush (who coincidentally is actually part of the Bush Clan), he made highly derogatory statements and he technically admitted to sexual assault.
After those tapes became public, there was a noticeable shift in the electorate. That was in part off-set by Comey's announcement about one week later, which lit a fire under Hillary's ass again and the media yet again had another field day.
Anyway, my point being: the GOP HAD to go with Trump. Albeit begrudgingly and not overtly. But watch them suckers now all coming around kissing Donald's ass. After all, there are a bunch of lucrative jobs up for grabs.
