I was brainwashed all my life into thinking that the idiotic European lawn tennis model is valid for table tennis & therefore used to believe that children should only use rackets with spinny inverted both sides.
But this model is not valid even for tennis because for almost all humans , forehand is not equal to backhand in many respects. Even tennis players have recognized this years ago and moved on to two handed backhands.
The backhand is general is the weakside for most humans especially at the amateur level especially in table tennis which is probably the most forehand dominant sport.
So I have recognized the fact that children should move to rubbers other than inverted on one side (usually backhand) as early as possible in their life without wasting time trying to learn to loop on their backhand which is an exercise in futility.
So what India is doing is revolutionary & it is good for the sport. If you cannot handle the heat get the hell out of the kitchen.
ITTF used to give the lame excuse that this is not good for spectator presentation, which is another big lie. If it is true, ITTF is more than welcome to ban all pips & anti rubbers altogether and let the pips & anti players start their own association if they are so inferior to supremely athletic two winged loopers.
ITTF has made 11 changes since 1983 to keep the pips & anti players in their control & torture them over & over. How many more rule changes can you make ? I would love to find out.
Feel free to ban all pips & anti if your like & keep your criminal boosters & spin glues & enjoy
I wish you the best
Yes you are correct , most Indian TT academies have switched to pips for women and it won*t be too long before Indian men accept the hard reality & will switch to pips also. I am told it is already happening in big cities like Chennai. Hopefully we will see more & more Indian men also flooding the international scene with so called long pips.
And I have no doubt that some para events like wheelchair event must ban rackets with spinny inverted both sides
Thank you Neha & Manika.
