ITTF World Ranking Points
1. Rating Points
1a. Explanations
* For each match, a player receives positive rating points if he/she wins, or negative rating points if he/she loses.
* The rating points is calculated as the base points multiplied by the weighting factor.
* The base points of a match depends on the ranking difference between the winner and the loser prior to the match (see table below). If the difference is positive (winner has higher ranking than loser), the outcome is "expected"; if the difference is negative (winner has lower or equal ranking), the outcome is "unexpected". Obviously, an unexpected match outcome result in higher base points than an expected match outcome.
* The weighting factor of a match depends on the importance of the tournament during which the match is played (see list below).

2. Bonus Points (Revised)
2a. Explanation
* A player receives bonus points for reaching a certain stage of a major tournament (see tabel below), depending on the its importance (see list below).
* No bonus points for team events, nor for qualificaion competition, for ranking events or alike, or for age categories events.
* In the same way as for third position, bonus points are adjusted whenever possible when other matches for intermediate positions are played.
