Mr Larry Hodges, who has posted here under the nick 'ttworld', has recently written a short guide for US coaches to use when training Juniors (typically, anyone under 18 years old).
Larry is the webmaster of the US Association for Table Tennis (USATT) and has written a book on TT-technique. Here's the link to his guide: http://www.usatt.org/club_programs/j...g_primer.shtml Particularly interesting are sections 5 and 6. Zachary |

Re: Junior Training
Thanks Zachary for the info,
I will try soon to get it. But if you don't mind I would like to additionally use this thread as a question to all international players: What are the first things you are teaching the junior players (say 9-10 years old) ? In our club ASV Süchteln (and I think as well in our neighbour club ATK Anrath, but am not sure) they are more or less starting with forehand counter (=counter-attack), next step is FH counter right table side / middle. Next is backhand counter. Then combination FH counter right/middle / BH. Next step is FH top spin Next is slice After half a year the serves-training is added. That's only a "general" and perhaps (I don't know this) not the official recommended way by the German Fed's. But some of our youngsters are also playing in the North Rhine-Westphalian (=WTTV) championship (=Westdeutsche Meisterschaften + Endranglisten). So it might be one possible way. What is your club teaching youngsters first ? Ciao Norbert Geändert von Nosti49 (30.12.2003 um 13:48 Uhr) |
