Re: How old are your beginners?
In our club the youngest is 5 years -on 9.1.04 6 years- old (my daughter ), one is 7 years old (my daughter ) the rest starts usually between 9-10 years, as we are going to the teachers at school and asking them to make advertisement for our club.

Re: How old are your beginners?
Well, I think the youngest player in the club where I play now is 7 years old.
In my former club my brother was the youngest player, he started at the age of 6 years. I started playing tablentennis at the age of 9 years and most of the other youth players also.

6-8 year is recommended.
10 year is too late for champion or good in the world. Intensive trainign program created by special trainers. This help to be good player. |

Re: How old are your beginners?
Hi coach,
I am pleased to hear that you have a "player" aged 4, and I would like to encourage you to care for children at that age. Be aware that their "table tennis"-"training" must be totally different from the way of practising usually known in clubs. The typical situation - playing 1:1, using a normal bat, a table and a net - should be an exception ! Instead of that, you should use toys - everything that moves or can be moved is good. Use lots of balls, small and big ones, light and heavier ones, green, red, pink and blue balls. Built landscapes, where the child can move, can climb over things, can jump little heights, can be quirly and active and can, a second later, relax. These ideas require a lot of work, but if you can manage it, it is possible to build up a "table tennis" group with children aged 4 to 6. I did it, and I know it works. If you have a "normal" training group and just one very young child, give him he opportunity to take part in the play if the child wants it. Never be demanding. Probably after a short time the child wants something else or a rest. Let it do what it wants to do. Organize some toys or balls for the child to play with. Try to keep the child happy. Be aware of your great responsibilty ! Good luck, SuperSriver |

AW: How old are your beginners?
Almost all beginners I know are between 8-11. I think to start "real" training you have to be calm and so big that you can play the ball. Otherwise the training wouldn't make sense. Of course you can start "training" with 4 or 4 but then you can't play tt, you have to work with other methods then.

AW: How old are your beginners?
Hi at all ,
our kids are between 7 and 11 years old !! I started playing table tennis with eight years and it was enough ... I think that it is not ok to train a kid , which is 4 years old ... because as I was 15 years old I was a long time ill, because my knee and my shoulder hurts ... it was hard time ... I think it is irresponsible to train kids in this age of 4 years ... Geändert von AntjeTT (12.08.2007 um 19:10 Uhr) Grund: There was a spelling mistake *sry* |
