Da bin ich ja bei Dir. Das ist eine ganz traurige Entwicklung.
Bin schon zweimal dieses Jahr extrem enttäuscht aus Düsseldorf nach einem Spiel nach Hause gefahren.

ETTU: JORGIC: We will fight with everything we have to defend our title

In a thrilling second leg match last April, 1. FC Saarbrücken TT triumphed in Düsseldorf, securing the decisive Golden Match in the final and claiming their maiden Champions League title. Now, nearly a year later, the Saarland team is poised to vie for the coveted trophy once more in the inaugural Final 4 tournament, on their home soil.

The Champions League Men's Final 4, set for March 30th and April 1st in Saarbrücken, promises intense showdowns as Borussia Düsseldorf clashes with SolexConsult TT Wiener Neustadt, and FC Saarbrücken TT takes on TTC Neu Ulm in the semi-final stage on opening day.

Ahead of the Final 4, many participants honed their skills at the WTT Champions Incheon, including Slovenia’s Darko JORGIC, currently ranked 15th in the world. Reflecting on his form, JORGIC shared:

“I'm very pleased with my current form; securing a crucial victory against Liam PITCHFORD at the start of the tournament in Korea was significant.”

JORGIC expressed his excitement about competing in the Final 4 in Saarbrücken:

“On Sunday, we'll take on TTC Neu Ulm. The victory holds immense importance for us. We're thrilled to play such a prestigious tournament in front of our supporters. It's a significant occasion for Saarbrücken to host this event.”

Though the venue differs from their usual Bundesliga matches, JORGIC emphasized, “Our fans will be there to support us.”

TTC Neu Ulm boasts stars like world number 11 Dimitrij OVTCHAROV and number 20 Truls MOREGARDH, both competing in Korea this week. JORGIC acknowledged the challenge, remarking:

“Facing OVTCHAROV, MOREGARDH, Quadri ARUNA... they're top-tier players. We must bring our A-game to reach the final. In the other semi-final, Borussia Düsseldorf is the clear favorite against SolexConsult TT Wiener Neustadt. We aim to defend our title, showcasing the same spirit and prowess as last year. Retaining the title is tougher, but we'll fight with everything we have,” assured Darko JORGIC.

ETTU: Timo BOLL: Spectators Will Get Their Money's Worth at Final 4

Borussia Düsseldorf, a club steeped in success and a cornerstone of European table tennis history, will aim to further solidify their legacy this Easter. The seven-time Champions League winners are poised to compete for another trophy at the inaugural Final Four, set to take place at Saarlandhalle in Saarbrücken. On Easter Sunday, March 31st, the semi-final matches will unfold, followed by the final on Easter Monday, April 1st.

In the semi-final, Borussia Düsseldorf will face Austria’s SolexConsult TT Wiener Neustadt.

Since 1960, the club has secured historic triples (Champions League, German team championship, German Cup) in 2010, a feat they repeated in 2011, 2018, and 2021.

Borussia Düsseldorf boasts notable stars, including European champion and current World No. 10, Dang QIU, as well as record European title winner Timo BOLL (currently ranked 26th in the world). BOLL recently advanced to the quarterfinals of the Singapore Smash 2024, where he defeated China's LIN Shidong, ranked 13th in the world, along with his club mate Anton KALLBERG, ranked 14th globally.

Commenting on the prospects at the Final 4, BOLL expressed his expectations, stating:

“I anticipate a closely contested event. Saarbrücken, Neu-Ulm, and ourselves are undoubtedly the favorites. The outcome will hinge on the players' form on the day. It's sure to be thrilling, and we're eagerly anticipating it. If it's anything like last year, then the spectators, in particular, are in for an exciting spectacle.”

Danny HEISTER, Head Coach of Borussia Düsseldorf, added:

“Naturally, we expect to emerge victorious in the semi-final. However, in the end, it will depend on the players' performances, and everyone must deliver their best. Then, we certainly stand a chance of clinching the title. Nevertheless, Saarbrücken and Neu-Ulm pose formidable challenges. Any one of us could emerge triumphant.”

Nehme an das er 1 spielt.
Und die Form ist gut. Wenn er 2 holt, packt es Ulm.

ETTU: 1. FC Saarbrücken TT Eagerly Awaits Champions League Men's Final 4 Kickoff

The inaugural Champions League Men's Final 4 kicks off today with the first semifinal match between Borussia Düsseldorf and SolexConsult TT Wiener Neustadt at 13:00 CET, followed by the second match between 1. FC Saarbrücken TT and TTC Neu Ulm at 17:00 CET. The final is scheduled for April 1st.

On their path to the Final 4, the reigning champions triumphed over Czechia’s SKST Tesla Batteries Havirov and France's AS Pontoise Cergy. This season in the Champions League, the club from Saarland remains undefeated, with Patrick FRANZISKA and Darko JORGIC yet to lose an individual match.

"I'm feeling pretty good. My body is healthy and fresh. I can't say it's entirely normal after so many tournaments, but right now, I feel quite good. I'm very much looking forward to the start of the Final 4," said FRANZISKA.

Franziska competed at the WTT Champions Incheon before returning to Saarbrücken.

"I'm eagerly anticipating the start of the Final 4. It's a unique tournament and a very special one, especially as we are the hosts of the first edition. Additionally, we are defending our title, so there are many reasons why this event is significant for us. We aim to showcase our capabilities to everyone in our hometown. I believe we will receive great support, and hopefully, it will be an amazing event," FRANZISKA promised.

Wien ohne Ueda dürfte chancenlos sein. Das ist natürlich ein Glückslos.

Saarbrücken gegen Ulm ganz schwer.

Von der Spielstärke 50:50 vielleicht von der mentalen Stärke kleiner Vorteil für Ulm. In der Vergangenheit hatte Saarbrücken in Finalspielen so ihre Problemchen und zu Hause ist der Druck vielleicht noch ein Tick größer.

Vielleicht ein kleiner Vorteil dass die Ulmer und Düsseldorfer schon am Samstag komplett trainieren konnten und zum teil schon seit Freitag in Saarbrücken sind. Franziska und Darko kamen wohl erst später aus Korea zurück und erst am Samstag Abend an.

Trotzdem tippe ich auf Saarbrücken wegen dem Heimvorteil und weil es einfach ein super sympathisches Team ist.
