AW: Hello from ITTF President
Maybe the google translations above can help
regarding the improved tv presence of table tennis I was never so sure that it is so important, although because of the big loss of attractivity when tt is not watched live. I used to watch tt on television everytime they brought it but now I am so spoiled from getting to watch great live games at Pro tour tournaments and other major events, sometimes the best players, or something like watching Chen Qi practising in the training hall from 2 meters distance, I almost don't watch it anymore myself! Therefore my recommendation always has been that it's 10 times more effective to win live audience and not television audience. That would make much more sense and money would be better spend. 1 nice example: last Autumn i visited the Austrian Open in the big city Salzburg. Walking through the city, looking at newspapers there were almost no posters or ads, so it was very much an anonymous tournament to the local people. For me this is a bigger problem than low tv presence (don't worry: i I know the argument that firms only pay money if their logo is on tv) |

Mister Sharara,
we all know that China is actually the dominating country in the tabletennis-wolrd, but do you think any other nation has a chance to break their domination in the next few years? What nation do you think could that be? And a last question: You know sure a lot of young tt-talents in the world! But who will be ,,the player'' in the future of them all? i hope you will answer PS: perhaps you have time to visit our homepage http://www.ttccreussen.de.tl

Looking at the young players now, I think that in the future England, Russia, Japan, Korea and Germany could challenge China. France also has many good young talented players. I cannot say who will be the future star, there are many good young players now at the Cadet and Junior levels, the real test is when they join the older and more experienced players in competition. I also believe that it's a quetion of "desire" and "determination". You need a national association that makes it a priority to become the best, to motivate the coaches and the players and to work hard to achieve the goal. Sometimes I do not see this "drive" to succeed. For example, not one European player played in the China Open in Shanghai after the Olympic Games. This should have been the golden opportunity to compete against the new Chinese generation as soon as possible. The Olympic Champiom was beaten by a younger Chinese player ! Sometimes the decisions made by some players and their associations do not reflect the kind of desire needed to be on top. So, attitudes need to change before others could beat the Chinese.

PS: perhaps you have time to visit our homepage http://www.ttccreussen.de.tl[/QUOTE] By the way I checked your website, I like the opening title: "Tischtennis, der größte Sport der Welt", but then I got lost inside with League results.

Brainstorming - first rule It is allowed to think about everything ! Why not special V.I.P.-areas. Football makes a lot of money with such things. It's the first step for getting new sponsors. regs nevada

"ARD reports in his program over more than 30 sports. Unfortunately, not every sport to the same extent taken into account, because the airtime for sport is limited. Football and winter sports are popular with viewers still very front. "
from the above answer of 1.German tv station on my inquiry about the tv presence of tt and the mentioning of winter sports you can also conclude the following: currently ski jumping and biathlon are winter sport # 1 - i would say - regarding time on tv so (excluding great sports like downhill skiing): it doesn't matter how boring the sport is - see ski jumping: every jump looks the same - or how few people are actively doing the sport - see biathlon - what counts is how attractive the tv appearance of the sport looks on tv, here tabletennis has probably much room for improvement Till |
