ETTU: Champions League Dramatic Turnaround for Linz AG Froschberg in Group C

Twice Champions League Women winners Linz AG Froschberg recovered from two defeats against French clubs at the start of Stage 2 to record two wins in the last two matches. Tonight, ETIVAL ASRTT suffered at the hands of Austria’s players in France.

Now the situation in Group C is very interesting. With Linz's 3-1 away win against Grand Quevilly in the return leg two weeks ago, the Austrian champions brought themselves back into the game for promotion to the quarter-finals.

Tonight's victory launched them to safer ground, but everything remains open until the last match on December 14th when two French clubs will play against each other. If Grand Quevilly wins, all three teams could hold on to two victories. So far, in the opening leg, Etival ASRTT beat Grand-Quevilly ALCL.

Mich wundert, dass von sechs Spielrunden in dieser Gruppe, das französisch-französische Duell nicht das erste Spiel (Hinspiel) und das vierte Spiel (Rückspiel) war, sondern dass es das Hinspiel tatsächlich erst in der vierten Runde gab und das Rückspiel ganz am Schluss in der sechsten Runde.

Normalerweise spielen doch welche mit gleicher Nation immer das erste Spiel gegeneinander, so dass die sich nicht absprechen können und Wettbewerbsverzerrung betreiben können.

ETIVAL ASRTT Secures Top Spot in Champions League Women's Group C Despite Loss to GRAND-QUEVILLY ALCL

In the last match of Group C in the Champions League Women, ETIVAL ASRTT lost to GRAND-QUEVILLY ALCL 1-3. All three clubs in this group finished with two wins and 6 points.

However, thanks to a better game ratio, ETIVAL ASRTT is first with 8-6, LINZ AG Froschberg is second with 8-8, and GRAND-QUEVILLY ALCL is third with 7-9. The top two clubs will continue their competition in the quarterfinals of the Champions League.

In the opening leg, ETIVAL ASR TT beat GRAND-QUEVILLY ALCL 3-0. LINZ AG Froschberg has one win and one defeat against each team in the group.

Saint Quentin TT Tops Group B

In a protracted and closely contested five-match series, French Saint Quentin TT maintained an unbeaten record in duels against SKST Plus Hodonín in Group B of the Champions League Women. This victory launched them to the top position in the group in the ultimate match of phase 2. Czechia’s club remained in the second position, securing their spot in the quarterfinals. UCAM Cartagena finished third, and the Spanish side will continue the competition in the Europe Cup.

In the quarterfinals, the line up will feature Group A winners, the reigning champions Polish KTS ENEA SIARKOPOL Tarnobrzeg and Novi Sad from Serbia; Group C's top two, French ETIVAL ASRTT and Austria LINZ AG Froschberg; and Group D winners French Metz and the club that finished second, Italian QUATTRO MORI CAGLIARI.

The draw for the Champions League Women, Europe Cup Women, and Europe Cup Men quarterfinals will be held live tomorrow at 12 CET onETTU.tv.

The draw for the Champions League Women quarterfinals, Europe Cup Women and Europe Cup Men quarterfinals was held today.

Thrillers in Novi Sad and Italy

In the opening leg of the Champions League Women quarterfinal, the reigning champions, who were forced to play without HAN Ying, KTS ENEA SIARKO TARNOBRZEG, suffered an away defeat against Italy’s QUATTRO MORI CAGLIARI. Xiaoxin YANG and Elizabeta SAMARA scored for the Polish champions from Tarnobrzeg, but on the other side, Elizabet ABRAAMIAN recorded two wins, and Tania PLAIAN showed good nerves to win over Fu YU in the decisive match.

"It was a roller-coaster match. We played unbelievably well in every game, and we executed the tactics flawlessly. We were aware that the Polish team is very strong, and we knew it would be a tough challenge, but we fought for every point until the end with the right tactics. We are very happy with our victory today; we did a fantastic job. Very proud of my team," said PLAIAN.

Czechia’s SKST Plus Hodonín failed to secure a win on home soil against METZ TT. Adiana DIACONU of Romania clinched two wins against Sakura MORI and Mariia TAILAKOVA, followed by Pauline CHASSELIN, who beat Karin GROFOVA.

"The match was very intense, with every game played at the highest level. I'm very happy with my two wins today against PARTYKA and MORI , where I managed to stay calm and handle the key moments very well. I believe I made the right decisions at the right times. I'm even more pleased with my victories because, in this busy period with all the WTTs, league matches, and Champions League, each win gives me confidence to keep going. I'm pleased with the team spirit displayed today; we showed that we're together no matter what. Also, our coach supported us, and I think together, we did a good job today. The match is not over, so we'll try to replicate the same performance on Saturday and qualify for the semifinals," stated Adina DIACONU.

Novi Sad also suffered a loss at home against French ETIVAL ASRTT. Aneta MAKSUTI showed a brave performance at home, although it was insufficient to nullify the great team effort from Marie MIGOT, Jieni SHAO, and Camelia IACOB.

Austria’s LINZ AG Froschberg overcame French SAINT QUENTIN TT in Austria, with Sofia POLCANOVA still in splendid shape after the final at the Europe Top 16 Cup in Montreux. The European champion won both her duels, and Ivana MALOBABIC joined her with one.

Reigning champions reached semis by golden match

In the tense and exciting quarterfinal duels of the Champions League Women, reigning champions KTS ENEA SIARKO TARNOBRZEG reached the semifinals after a golden match against QUATTRO MORI CAGLIARI. ETIVAL ASRTT had less stress in their home duel compared to the opening match in Novi Sad.

Both quarterfinal legs of the match between KTS ENEA SIARKO TARNOBRZEG and QUATTRO MORI CAGLIARI concluded in five matches. The Italian side clinched victory at home, and the Polish champion succeeded in Tarnobrzeg, so the golden match was introduced for the first time in the quarters this season.

“It was really intense,” said Elizabeta SAMARA. ”It is very difficult to play against players who have nothing to lose. They have perfect motivation; they loosen their hand, and they are so dangerous. Elizabet ABRAAMIAN really put me under pressure. She played at a high level. The same goes for Tania PLAIAN. It was very close. I think, in the end, it was the experience that prevailed.”

After big drama in the opening leg in Serbia, the return leg was comparatively a calm affair in France. ETIVAL ASRTT beat Novi Sad in four matches, with Aneta MAKSUTI scoring once again for the Serbian club. On the other side, Jieni SHAO scored twice.

“Maksuti played amazing, and she gave us some work to do. JIENI beat her, but she really needed to give her 100 percent. Novi Sad played with a young Serbian team, which I think is amazing for them. We could feel their energy, and it was hard for us. But we kept on strong. Camelia did not lose the match in the Champions League, and we are very happy,” said Marie MIGOT.

In the Roller Coaster SKST Plus Hodonín Books Semi-Final Place

SKST Plus Hodonín won the Golden Match in France against METZ TT tonight, progressing to the semi-final of the Champions League Women.

In the roller coaster match, the Czech side lost at home 3-1 before Metz followed the same path on their home soil. Sakura MORI was in top form tonight, beating Mariia TAILAKOVA twice and Adina DIACONU in a five-game thriller.

Polish KTS ENEA SIARKO TARNOBRZEG and French ETIVAL ASRTT have already secured their places in the semi-final of the Champions League Women. Only one spot remains to be filled. In the remaining quarterfinal duel, SAINT QUENTIN TT will meet LINZ AG Froschberg.
