Hi,
well, I don't really know to whom it should be an obligation... If the organizer of a tournament decides that they will play with orange balls, then it's an obligation for the players that they have to use the balls, which are put at their's disposal. But the organizer himself can decide which color he likes more. He has to mention the brand and the color of the balls in the announcement of the tournament and then this decision is fixed. One reason why you see orange balls that often on tournaments could be that the district Boeblingen got these orange TSP balls very cheap and so they play all tournaments organized by the district ("Ranglisten", "Bezirksmeisterschaften") are played with orange balls... |

Re: Is it a obligation on a table tennis tournament to play with orange balls?
no!!
tournaments have the same rules as competition. So when the tables are green or black you should use white balls. With blue or sometimes purple tables you use orange balls. Always follow the rules!!! ; ) |

There is no Rule for international competitions of the ITTF which says that you must play with orange balls on blue tables etc. |

Thanks for your info, Besucher (=visitor), but is that only so in your country (you unfortunately did not mention the country you are from) or is that really world wide (means: are there rules from the ITTF stating this) BTW: Wish you all a nice and happy 2004 .. Ciao Norbert |

That is not a problem at all, but then in Germany or Sweden or China it might be not obligatory (table colur/ball colour), i.e. else then in Belgium. That's the only reason asking, if it's an ITTF-regulation Wish you a nice 2004 and would you not like to become "member" in our tt-news community ? Ciao Norbert |
