Nachdem er Wang Hao kaum eine Chance ließ, sah er zumindest gegen Xu Xin (leicht übertrieben) kein Land.

Das Finale hat Xu Xin letztendlich verdient gegen Ma Long gewonnen, auch wenns nur 4-3 war.

Was denkt ihr, kann FZD schon bald die Top 2 durchbrechen?

Ich denke dass Ma Long und Xu Xin noch ne Weile da oben die Alleinunterhalter sind^^

Ich denke schon das Fan Zhendong das Potential hat auch ganz nach vorne in der WRL zu kommen. Außerdem sollte man Zhang Jike nicht vergessen. Der war vor einem Jahr auch Nummer 1 der WRL und kann da sicher auch wieder hinkommen.

Ich habe aus Interesse mal die Geburtsdaten der Spieler Fan Zhendong, Yan An, Zhou Yu und Lin Gaoyuan recherchiert.

Da das vielleicht auch andere interessiert:

Fan Zhendong wurde am 22.01.1997 geboren und ist damit seit kurzem 17 Jahre alt.

Er ist übrigens Rechtshänder.

Verrückt und gleichzeitig erschreckend, was der Junge mit 16/17 Jahren schon spielen kann.

Eigentlich kann es bei ihm ja nur noch um "Leistung halten" gehen, denn besser kann man eigentlich nicht mehr werden.

Das ist auf jeden Fall Quatsch. Gegen Ma Long/Zhang Jike/Xu Xin in Topform gewinnt Fan noch nicht.
In 2-3 Jahren sollte er aber die Nr.1 der Welt sein... (und lange bleiben)

auch ich bin der Meinung das man nun erst einmal abwarten muss wie sich der "Junge" so entwickelt. Insbesondere bin ich gespannt wie er das ganze mental verkraften wird?
Bislang konnte er noch vollkommen unbefangen aufspielen. Nun ist er bereits die Top 3 der Welt und es wird natürlich weiterhin der Druck von außen steigen.......Es werden weiterhin "Wunderdinge" erwartet und schnell ist ein " Wunderding" von gestern eine normale Sache von heute. Soll heißen: kommt jetzt kein ganz großes Ding und werden weitere Siege gegen einen Nicht Top Chinesen oder einen europäischen Spitzenspieler als "normal" gesehen ( aus der Presse betrachtet) wächst der Druck weiter beeindrucken zu wollen und es kann der Bruch kommen...............mal schauen

Interview mit Fan Zhendong

It is incredible what you reached in the last months. And you are just at the beginning of your career. Why do you think are you so successful? What makes you stronger than the others?
-There was a fast improvement in the beginning of entering the First National Team. Besides, I think it was very essential that I’ve seized the opportunities while they dropped me in. This enhanced my confidence.

How did your life change in the last months?
-For myself, there’s no big change actually. My life still focuses on training. But there is rising attention and expectation from the outside (the public), so there is a little bit pressure accordingly.

Surely it was a lot of work to become such a good player at the age of 17. When did you start playing and how did your training in your childhood look like?
-I started play table tennis since 5 years old, spending 2 hours every day between 17:00 and 19:00. I went to sports school for training while I was 10. I went there every school day between 15:00 and 18:30, and whole-day training during the weekends. I went to the club while I was 12. I started full-day training there. In 2012, I was selected to the Second National Team.

What do you want to improve? Where are your weak points?
-I hope to strength my physical ability and improve the first three strokes. A higher forehand ratio and better hitting accuracy during a big competition are also in need.

What do you think: How important are the rubbers and blades a player uses to become most successful?
-They’re extremely important. Every player has individual characteristics. A great choice of blade and rubber could meet player’s needs and make up some limitations.

Which rubbers and which blade do you use and how you’re your equipment support your game?
-I use STIGA Infinity VPS and currently I’m testing the new STIGA Airoc rubbers. The first feeling is great and I seriously consider playing with this STIGA rubber in the future.

-STIGA Infinity VPS, I love it very much. It helps me with powerful attack, longer trajectory/arc during a counter-drive, stronger spin. And these probably draw some pressure on my opponent.

We are looking forward to the German Open. Last year you won the competition, this time you are the top seed. How does it feel to play such a big tournament as defending champion? Do you feel pressure?
-I’m really sorry that I’m not able to go for the German Open this time, because I cannot catch the schedule after playing the Asia Cup in Wuhan. But I might have pressure if I were able to play this time.

Only one month later you will beat the WTTTC in Tokyo. What does it mean to you to be part of the Chinese team and what is your personal aim?
-I feel so happy and honored. This opportunity is an affirmation of my past year. I’ll try to player more and play my best to contribute to China.

What are your highest aims in general and when do you want to reach them?
-Men’s single champion of the Olympic. Hopefully, I could fulfill this in Rio de Janeiro 2016.

Who is currently the best table tennis player in your opinion? Who do you admire and why?
-I think Zhang Jike is the strongest. I admire Samsonov. He started being a legendary player for many years, and he’s still on the top now. His enthusiasm and persistence for table tennis encourage me. I wish I could have a long career like him.

What are you doing in your spare time, when you are not playing table tennis?
-I read, listen to music. I spend much time on watching the match videos, both mine and my opponents’. Sometimes I watch TV.

Spielt Fan eigentlich wirklich STIGA-Material?

Nicht wirklich. Müsste das Viscaria spielen und dann halt Blue Sponge Vorhand und Tenergy Rückhand. Aber welchen genau weiß ich nicht. Glaube, das gleiche Setup wie Zhang Jike.
