Id like to know how the expression "high throw" (of a rubber) is understood, does it mean "high throw angle" (steiler Ballabsprung) or "strong catapult-effect" (starker Katapult-Effekt")?

What is "deep throat"; never heard about it...

I still prefer "high throw"...

I have no idea - could you give me a little bit more of the context? Is the term "high throw" being used within the product description of a rubber?

Especially, if the original version was put together in Chinese and then translated over to English, I sometimes came across with some really odd terminology.

Having a first guess without having any further details, I think "high throw" indeed refers to the parameter "catapult" - so probably "high bounce" would have been a little more descriptive.

"throw" as people use it to describe rubber characteristics.

Generally, low throw rubbers are considered to be easier to play with against topspin, while high throw rubbers are supposed to be able to lift backspin over the net more easily.

So "throw" is most probably short for "throw angle".

Okay, makes sense! However, I had never heard of that expression (in that context) before. I'll ask the guys at my club tomorrow whether they know more about that and explain in more detail. I'll let you know...

harter Topspin alias Schlagspin: power loop, power spin, (and very slangy: rip-off spin)
weicher Topspin : soft loop
Konterball : counter (drive)
Flip : Flick
Schuß / Schmetterball (beides gleichbedeutend? - ja) : smash
Unterschnitt-Abwehr : chop
Schupfball : push
Block : block
Ballonabwehr: I'll find out....
Stopball: short push (and you could use stop)

Now, that I think about it - I definitely heard once a player using the expression "moon - ball". However, I don't know whether he had just made that up or whether it is actually commonly used..
