Yes in Germany is Butterfly very famous not only the Rubbers and Blades also the Clothing. I think everyone world wide knows Butterfly or never heard of table tennis.
Shoes are Mizuno the most famous in Germany.
Some do also buy cheaper products or like local supported products like mentioned.
Or products for a different playing style, I love Chinese hard, heavy, sticky rubbers from DHS.

I am from NRW in Germany and at that time when I played tabletennis in tabletennis clubs which was mainly in the 1980s, my most popular brand was Joola. Almost all tables werde Joola tables for example. I had never heard of Butterfly at that time.
