Lee Sangsu (KOR) after beating JHA Kanak (USA) 4-3 in the group stage:

“My feeling of the table was not too good when the game started and I was a bit nervous. But after playing the sixth game, I got my rhythm back and this made me felt the game again. I think after this match I need to just focus on winning each point.”


Kanak JHA (USA) after losing 3-4 LEE Sangsu (KOR) in the group stage:

“After winning the fifth game, I started feeling the pressure going into the sixth game particularly when I started serving half long. It was tight for me to maintain my short serves. I think what I learnt from this game is that I should be able to receive and serve very well against top players like SANGSU. This is my first time and I still have another match and I stay focused.”

Cedric NUYTINCK (BEL) after losing 3-4 to Omar ASSAR (EGY) in the group stage:

“Omar started playing a bit better in the fifth game and he was able to receive my service very well while I was making some costly mistakes by hitting the ball too much. It is always deadly to lose vital points against top 50 players like Omar. It was painful that I lost the match because I was in good form having trained very well for the tournament. I knew I could win the match but it was my fault that I could not maintain my form throughout the encounter. The next match against Shibaev promises to be tough like this because he is also a good player. I hope I can start well against him just like I started against Omar.”

Lee Sangsu (KOR) after beating ARUNA Quadri (NGR) 4-3 in the group stage:

“This was a very difficult match for me because Aruna has a very strong forehand. I was a bit nervous not to play to his backhand and when he was leading 3-1, I was not scared that I will lose. So I started varying my style by combining my forehand with backhand. But he played various tactics and this made the match very tough. Aruna is a very good player and I am happy that I progressed to the second round. But I must admit that this second match was a bit hard for me compared to my first match.”

Da hat Timo Bolll ja richtig Pech gehabt mit der Auslosung. Aber so gesehen haben sogar auch Ma Long und Lin Gaoyuan Pech gehabt.

Dafür war Dimitrij Ovtcharov ja ein Glückspilz. Also wenn er diese Chance jetzt nicht nutzen wird...
