Hello again!

Today I had the first lessons of English-"Leistungskurs". On Monday we'll start with the first book. It's called "About a Boy" (Nick Hornby).
Does anybody know it??

This title "About a Boy" I've already heard once before. Wait - I think I've seen a so called movie... in German it's called "Der Tag der toten Ente". But I don't know if it's the same as the book.

Perhaps you can give a brief overview about the contents of the book?

Yes, here school already has started again. But it's okay, I like my courses very much .

Yeah, there's a movie with the same title which is based on the book (I don't know the German title). But I haven't seen it yet.

The book deals with two guys, Marcus (12) and Will (36). Marcus is an outsider and doesn't have any friends. His mother is the only close person he has got and she has split up with her husband.
Will is a very "cool" person with lots of friends and he's also got a lot of one-night-stands.
One day they meet and become friends, but Will is dating with Marcus' mother and she tries to commit suicide, so there are a lot of problems.

Do you know the story??

Yes, I think so. Seems as if it's the same story as in the movie (the German title is "Der Tag der toten Ente").

Well, my son reads it already at he age of 10 years and finds it "geil", as he said. And the new book (I think the German version started at Halloween, but I forgot the name of that book ) he got already and I think he will be starting to read when having finished the other one.

Is it correct that it has more pages than the previous Harry Potter book ?

Yes, it's right! The English version has got 766 pages and the German version 1021 pages (the 4th book of Harry Potter in German has got only 767 pages).
