Because it is WTT Contender category = Low tournament category.

It is not only a matter of price money or ranking points.

According to some unverified sources, Fan Zhendong & Ma Long had serious visa problems in the past weeks - and were kept in preventive quarantine for approximately twelve days.

Both in rather comfortable conditions, of course: Ma Long was locked in the Villa Tinto near Beijing, Fan Zhendong at the Hotel Ogimura in Shanghai. (These locations are known for decades amongst insiders as safe places of retreat for merited members of the Chinese Table Tennis National Team.)
